It’s summer in Indiana which means preparations are underway for the Indiana State Fair!  The interactive Pathway to Water Quality exhibit, managed by the Indiana Conservation Partnership, has been a popular place to visit at the Indiana State Fairgrounds since 1993 and is a watershed demonstration site showing how proper management practices at home, on the farm, and in business can protect our soil and water resources.  More information about “Pathway” is available HERE

Our staff volunteers at Pathway throughout the fair and recently we have joined on as members of the steering committee to help guide the future of the exhibit.  Last fall we planted 6 Swamp Rose Mallows and a Buttonbush in the upper pond area and they are really coming in nicely with weekly maintenance being performed by our staff including weeding and watering during the important establishment period.  The native shrubs are adjacent to a stand of native river cane and we look forward to seeing them in bloom during the State Fair!  Also make sure to check out our Normandy Barn Rain Garden exhibit while you enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of this great Indiana tradition.
