As August comes quickly to a close, our district celebrates another great year of volunteer stewardship and public education through our participation in the Pathway to Water Quality exhibit (“Pathway”) at the Indiana State Fair that took place August 2nd-August 18th.    We are represented on the Pathway exhibit steering committee and with donations from Indy Urban Acres and lots of volunteers we were able to plant over 300 new native plugs on the backside of the exhibit.  Prior to the fair opening we treated invasives throughout the exhibit and several staff members took volunteer shifts to educate fair goers about water quality and backyard conservation.

New this year, our District Manager John Hazlett also did a short 20- minute education presentation on rain gardens at the Newfields Harvest Pavilion on several fair days.

The State Fair is a great opportunity to walk through and see several conservation practices including this rain garden.

We look forward to improving Pathway throughout the year and getting it ready for the fair, the ultimate Hoosier summer tradition!
