With gyms closed and social gatherings put on hold, it can be very isolating time. A 2015 Stanford-lead study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science found that taking in a walk in a natural area could reduce depression. Take a break from the Netflix, Facebook and 24/7 news cycle, and find a local Indianapolis park! Even though Indianapolis is the metropolitan center of Indiana, we have many amazing natural areas and greenways, maybe some you didn’t even know about. Did you know Eagle Creek Park is one of the largest municipal parks in the United States? Did you know that less than 15 miles from downtown Indianapolis, Marion County houses one of Indiana’s 25 state parks, Fort Benjamin Harrison State Park?

Though there is a ‘stay at home order‘ in place, that doesn’t mean you cannot go outdoors to exercise. So, reconnect with some of Indianapolis’ nature trails and parks and take a hike!
