Happy World Soil Day!

On December 5th celebrate soil with others around the world! Soil is our most important and foundational natural resource. We depend on it to support our other natural resources – food crops, forestry, wildlife and air. This year’s focus is on maintaining soil biodiversity.

The Marion County Soil & Water Conservation District is active in protecting, enriching and utilizing our soil in the most ecological and sustainable ways. The soil health initiatives that we promote are vital to encouraging soil biodiversity, and we are protecting soil and water resources through our urban conservation programs which include promoting soil conservation in new developments.
